The Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) has accused Turkey of sending infiltrators to Syria's northeast where the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are dominant.

In an interview with Kurdistan 24 last week, Nouri Mahmoud, a spokesperson for the YPG, said that Ankara directly supports all "jihadist groups."

"When we talk about some small groups or cells that are active in Raqqa or Deir al-Zor, they are taking their instructions from Turkish MIT [intelligence] and AKP [the ruling Justice and Development Party] leaders," Mahmoud said during the interview.

He further pointed out that Turkey wants to support these groups, even in the area of Hajin, against the Kurdish forces in Syria.

The YPG spokesperson also accused Ankara of attempting to harm the coexistence between the "Sunnis and Kurds" in the area.

"Sunnis and Kurds all have [an] agreement to coexist, and that is why Erdogan sends these groups to create conflict," he said. "Up to now, we have never seen any foreign IS fighter captured without a Turkish stamp [on their passport]."
